Literacy Tutoring

Programming is offered at the CCI Monday through Thursday from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.  for about 30 elementary school students in grades 2 through 5 each semester. Tutoring is provided by Notre Dame, Indiana University South Bend, Holy Cross College and Saint Mary's College student volunteers in reading, writing, comprehension and vocabulary. The children also participate in art enrichment, drama and conflict resolution activities.  Some of our special events include Dia de Muertos and a Community Block Party.

The first hour of programming focuses on literacy tutoring provided by volunteer tutors one-on-one or in small groups. The second hour focuses on arts and culture enrichment activities including but not limited to: Drama Club, Take Ten, artist studies and creative writing!
